Rehabilitative Exercise Therapy

What is Rehabilitative Exercise Therapy?

Therapeutic exercise seeks to accomplish the following:

  • Enable ambulation
  • Release contracted muscles, tendons, and fascia
  • Mobilize joints
  • Improve circulation
  • Improve respiratory capacity
  • Improve coordination
  • Reduce rigidity
  • Improve balance
  • Promote relaxation
  • Improve muscle strength and, if possible, achieve and maintain maximal voluntary contractile force
  • Improve exercise performance and functional capacity (endurance)

How Does it Work?

Exercises are prescribed to stretch the injured or affected muscles and increase their flexibility, which in turn is effective for the treatment of pain.

What to Expect:

Dr. Strong DC CCSP or his physical therapist, Matthew Gillis MSc PT, will develop a customized exercise program based on in-person assessment of your needs, and up-to-date research of the most effective treatment exercises. The exercise program’s pacing, specific exercises, and amount of practice with the physical therapist will vary depending on the condition and the individual’s needs.

Benefits:

  • Pain
  • Restored range of motion, strength, and stability
