Neck Pain or Stiffness
What is Neck Pain or Stiffness?
Your neck, or cervical spine, begins at the base of the skull and involves seven small vertebrae and related muscle groups. According to the American Chiropractic Association, the neck’s bio-mechanics not only make it especially strong and flexible, but also susceptible to pain, stiffness and injury.
Symptoms of Neck Pain or Stiffness:
Bothersome pain and lessened range of motion or stiffness
Who’s at Risk for Neck Pain or Stiffness?
Individuals who experience trauma, such as falls, impact or vehicular accidents (whiplash), as well as individuals suffering from degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis or spinal stenosis may also experience neck pain and stiffness. Athletes, aging individuals and those with weak core muscles and posture are also at risk.
Prevention:
Strong core muscles, proper posture, and proper lifting techniques can help to protect your neck from certain types of strain and injury.
