Cold Laser Therapy

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser Therapy is a treatment that uses therapeutic wavelengths of light to treat tissue and speed up the healing process. It helps reduce pain, swelling, muscle spasms and increase function and mobility.

How Does it Work?

During the process of Cold Laser Therapy, light passes through layers of skin to reach the target area, where it is absorbed and interacts with the light sensitive elements in the cell. When human body cells absorb light energy from the cold laser, the reaction on the cellular level cell begins a metabolic process of repairing damaged tissue.

What to Expect:

Your clinician will provide you with special sunglasses to protect your eyes from accidental exposure to the laser light. The laser unit is a hand-held device, placed directly over the injured area for a period of time ranging from 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on your treatment protocol.

Non-thermal (heat-free) photons of light will pass from the laser, through the skins layers to reach the injured or damaged tissue.

Benefits / Conditions Treated:

  • Reduced pain
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Faster healing time
