Massage/ Myofascial Release
What is Massage/ Myofascial Release?
According to PT Health, Myofascial release is a soft tissue therapy that involves a mix of massage and gentle, long strokes to release the tightness in the fascia or connective tissue that surrounds muscles and other systems in the body. These safe and effective hands-on techniques involve applying gentle, sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue in order to eliminate pain and restore motion.
How Does it Work?
Gentle pressure and movement techniques – applied slowly – help the fascia to elongate and release.
What to Expect:
You will be asked to remove clothing from the affected area. If required, you will be provided with a covering, such as a hospital gown, that will afford you modesty and the doctor or massage therapist access to the treatment site. Massage and Myofascial release are hands-on therapies, without the use of equipment. You can expect to feel gentle pressure, applied evenly and in long strokes to the injured area.
Benefits / Conditions Treated:
- Reduces Pain
- Improves range of motion to the affected area
